As we drove up the tree lined Eumundi Range Road through the dappled sunlight, The Farmhouse Eumundi appeared. Encircled by a quaint white picket fence, the striking building made us both exclaim “oh wow”.
Perched on high side of the hill, the statuesque farmhouse is perfectly positioned to regally watch over its 23 acres.
As we parked the car, two smiling faces appeared to greet us. Our hosts, Ela and Brian were immediately welcoming and made us feel comfortable and relaxed. They guided us up to the large wrap around verandah and in through the beautiful entry, guarded by two perfectly manicured ficus trees, standing to attention like welcoming sentries.
The smell of warm biscuits greeted us as we wandered into the perfectly styled bright lounge and dining room. But it was the Hamptons style kitchen that took my breath away. For foodies, it is worth a stay at The Farmhouse just to see the kitchen and the Villeroy & Boch farmhouse sink!
Our room was situated in the Guesthouse building, just a few steps from the main farmhouse. Ela and Brian showed us around, including how to make a big mug of warm hot chocolate from the pod machine in the kitchenette.
To our surprise, already in our suite was the source of the warm cookie smell, delicious homemade macrons dipped in chocolate, freshly made by Ela that morning.
We quickly unpacked, and headed out to our private verandah, with Ela’s biccies, to take in the view. Below us the alpacas quietly grazed. We took a deep breath and realized how quiet and still it was compared to our busy house in Brisbane.
The view from our suite, which has a separate lounge and kitchenette, was breathtaking. There were different vignettes everywhere we looked – the watering hole, bushland, paddocks, and green green grass as far as the eye could see.
We loved the attention to detail all over our suite, including the gorgeous Milk products in the bathroom, the heavenly king bed that engulfed you when you laid down and the meticulous Hamptons styling.
Later, we jumped into the car and made the short 20-minute trip to Noosa for an early dinner, then headed back to the Farmhouse for hot chocolate on our deck, as we watched the stars and listened to the stillness of the evening.
After a wonderful rest and a long, long sleep-in the amazing king bed, we wandered up to the main farmhouse for breakfast.
We had heard that Ela’s breakfasts were legendary and they were right! A full buffet of fruit, yoghurt, breads and croissants for toasting waiting for us as we arrived in the dining room was just the start. Then there were the hot items to choose . . . fluffy pancakes with banana, blueberries, maple syrup and bacon, or little chipolatas with homemade potato hash browns, two kinds of perfectly cooked eggs, multi-coloured roasted tomatoes, wilted spinach and delicious short cut bacon. All enjoyed leisurely in the fresh air whilst taking in the Farmhouse views.
I was convinced I wouldn’t need to eat for a week after breakfast!
We knew we needed to work off breakfast, so we made the 10-minute walk to the world-famous Eumundi Markets. A hustling hive of activity on a Saturday morning and great for people watching.
We were really reluctant to leave The Farmhouse Eumundi and as we promised Ela and Brian, we will most definitely be back with our whole family, and for a longer stay this time.
